NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A woman in her 50s died Monday night after she crashed into a downed tree, which had closed a portion of Briley Parkway in South Nashville.
The crash happened on Briley Parkway near Currey Road.
Metro police reported the woman was driving a Infiniti QX5 when a tow truck tried to repossess the vehicle before it sped off and fled from two traffic stop attempts on Murfreesboro Road.
According to a release, the driver then struck a tree and a passenger got out of the Infiniti before it drove away.

At the same time, officers were working a separate crash on Briley Parkway involving two vehicles that had crashed into each other and a fallen tree. The southbound lanes were closed while crews worked to remove the tree from the roadway.
The driver of the Infiniti went around officers and entered the closed portion of Briley Parkway, striking the tree, according to a release. The driver, tentatively identified as a 51-year-old Nashville woman, died at the scene.
The Medical Examiner’s Office is working to identify the victim. No additional information was immediately released.
