Reports of open gas line lead to evacuations at Midtown Nashville buildings

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — First responders have been called to a natural gas leak in Midtown Nashville Wednesday afternoon.

The Nashville Fire Department (NFD) posted on social media platform X just after 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11 that crews were responding to reports of an open gas line in the area of 14th Avenue South and Demonbreun Street.

According to officials, buildings impacted by the incident are being evacuated as a precaution. Traffic in the immediate area is also affected, so motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Personnel from Piedmont Natural Gas are at the scene of the natural gas leak, excavating more area to access and clamp off the broken gas line, NFD announced shortly after 3:30 p.m.

There are no reports of injuries related to the gas leak.
