NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Rock Harbor Marina is working on a multi-phase project that will bring a variety of residential and commercial buildings to the property.
The marina is located on 29 acres of land and has helped connect boaters to the Cumberland River. Metro’s Planning Commission recently approved their rezoning request, which will now move to a final Metro Council vote. This request would allow for a multi-family residential building and other new infrastructure to be added to the property.
The Prescott Group owns the property and has worked not only on revitalization, but also on maintaining the marina’s history. That history involves keeping one restaurant that is already on the property: Blue Moon Waterfront Grille.
Even though Metro Council still has to have final approval on the rezoning, the ownership group said that they are already working on traffic-calming measures for the property.
In 2023, the ownership group released a survey that helped them research their plan. Hundreds of people filled out the survey with ideas for the property.
Some of the amenities coming include residential and commercial buildings, a fishing pier, a new restaurant and an expansion of current parking lot and retail options. New boat slips are also planned for the property.
There is no construction timeline, but the ownership group said that they have community and Metro Council support. Several people in the neighborhood, like resident Gary Wateski, are excited for the property’s future.
“I have heard some people worried about traffic, but I think this is is going to be a good thing for the community,” Wateski said.
Some people in the community want to keep this marina catered to Nashvillians and not to tourists because this marina has served as a local landmark for decades. Rock Harbor Marina is also asking people to sign their re-zoning support letter. If you wish to sign, click here.
