Community aims to ‘Wrap Antioch High School in Love’ with Valentine’s event

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The community plans to “Wrap Antioch High School in Love” Tuesday evening with a Valentine-making event led by Voices for a Safer Tennessee.

According to the organizers, the goal is show the Antioch High School Community that they’re supported by their neighbors.

Individuals are invited to register and help make 2,500 cards at the event. The crafting will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at The Temple Congregation Ohabai Sholom in Belle Meade.

“We’re across town, on opposite ends of the town from Antioch,” said Rabbi Michael Danziger. Even so, he told News 2, “We are here thinking of them, supporting them, and sending love.”

Participants are asked to bring a bag of Hershey’s Kisses to send with the valentines. Light dinner and the supplies to make the valentines will be provided. 

“We hopefully get to lift up the Antioch High School community a little bit, but I think it restores everybody who participates, restores their faith in their fellow humans a little bit,” said Danziger.

If you can’t attend in person, printable valentines are available online and can be dropped-off by 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11 at The Temple Hamilton United Methodist Church at 3105 Hamilton Church Road, or Woodmont Christian Church at 3601 Hillsboro Pike.

“We want to make sure that we are spreading love, giving our support, in any way that we can,” said Jessica Jaglois, director of communications for Voices for a Safer Tennessee. “One way that we felt we could give back was letting these students know that we see them, we hear them, and we want to heal with them.”

“This doesn’t undo any of the tragedy, but it adds a little bit of light to the equation, hopefully,” added Danziger.
