Sydney Leday, Takeoff

Takeoff — Woman Caught In Crossfire That Killed Rapper Shares She Owes $200K In Medical Bills Following Hospitalization For Being Shot In The Head

Sydney Leday’s life changed after last year’s devastating Houston bowling alley shooting.

In a recent interview with TheShadeRoom, Sydney Leday, a victim of the shooting that killed Takeoff, opened up about the tragic night.

According to Sydney Leday, she’s been working on getting back to normal, however, things have been difficult. She currently owes around $200,000 in medical bills due to the treatment she received following the incident where she was shot in the head. So far, Leday has raised close to $15,000 thanks to the GoFundMe fundraiser that was organized by her mother.

As previously reported, Takeoff — one-third of the Migos rap group — died at 28, on Nov 1, 2022, after shots erupted following an alleged disagreement over a dice game.

Leday recalled what took place during J. Prince’s Halloween party (at 810 Billiards & Bowling) prior to the shooting. She said:

“Everybody seemed like they knew each other when we were in the event, watching them play the game of dice. When we got outside and it was time for everybody to go home, that’s when things changed.”

Leday shared she was ready to leave the event when she saw someone pull out a weapon. According to the victim, as she approached the escalator, gunfire erupted. The 24-year-old explained:

“Everything happened within a few seconds.”

After falling to the ground, Leday said she “felt the sting” in her head.

She added:

“I didn’t realize what actually happened to me.”

She said she then removed her wig and wig cap and she noticed she was bleeding from the back of her head. On her way to the hospital, she, unfortunately, had a seizure. While hospitalized, Leday was intubated and in a coma for days. Following the shooting, Leday shared she’s been experiencing intense pain and constant nausea.

Reportedly, the person who’s responsible for the bullet that hit Leday hasn’t been detained but Houston Police arrested a man, Patrick Clark, who’s accused of shooting Takeoff, real name Kirsnick Khari Ball.

Toward the end of her interview, Leday said,

“I would just say that that was a senseless act that wasn’t needed and it impacted people in a big way. Not just Takeoff, not just me. People that was there were traumatized.

We’re sending out thoughts and prayers to Sydney Leday, the family of Takeoff, and others impacted by the shooting.
