Rap star Saucy Santana prefers to leave the podcasting to the ladies.

During a recent interview, the “Material Girl” artist shared that he was originally asked to co-host his bestie Yung Miami’s podcast but turned it down due to concerns about how he’d be perceived as a gay man.

Saucy Santana, real name Rashad Spain, explained the situation while speaking with media personality Leah A. Henry. The 29-year-old revealed that he was initially slated to join the Revolt-produced series “Caresha Please,” which is hosted by fellow rapper Caresha ‘Yung Miami‘ Brownlee, 29, but he ultimately declined the gig.

As you may already know, “Caresha Please” is an interview-style show that dives into the personal lives of hip-hop artists and celebs across the industry.

While Saucy Santana is credited with coining the popular phrase “Caresha Please,” he shared during his interview that he gave all trademark rights of the term to the “Act Up” rapper.

Along with a #1 podcast, Yung Miami has launched the “Caresha Please” brand into merch for her fans. On her site, careshaplease.com, supporters can buy sweat suits, fitted tees, and shot glasses. Additionally, the rapper sells a card game called “Resha Roulette,” which she plays with guests on the show.

Santana expressed why he turned down a permanent co-hosting position and said:

“I declined it ’cause I feel like with being gay, certain things that we say or do can be misconstrued.”

He continued:

“Caresha asks a lot of questions, wild stuff…coming from a gay boy it can be misconstrued as messy or that I violated someone’s space. [Like] ‘this is why we won’t like gays cause they do too much, they messy, why would he ask this person this?’”

He added:

“But coming from a girl it’s funny.”

While he may not be in on the behind-the-scenes work for the podcast, Santana has certainly played a supporting role on the show. Fans can check out his hosting skills on episode three, which features the other half of the City Girl duo, JT.

He was also present alongside Yung Miami as she chatted with Latto.
