Nashville police warn residents of ongoing robocall scam

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Nashville Police Department is warning the public about an ongoing phone scam targeting residents.

According to authorities, the message begins with a recorded message from an unidentified man who claims he is an employee/sergeant of the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.

Residents are then told that they need to call a phone number or visit a fake website to “resolve an unspecified issue,” officials said.

Police said scammers then ask the victim to resolve the issue by paying with cryptocurrency gift cards or mobile apps.

“No member of law enforcement will ever solicit money,” said the MNPD. “The public is urged to be cautious when giving personal information to someone who is not a confirmed and trusted source.”

Anyone with information about the scam is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
