Magic Johnson Group Officially Submits $6 Billion Bid To Buy Commanders
It looks like Magic Johnson could soon become an NFL team owner!
The NBA legend is part of a group that just submitted an offer to buy the Washington Commanders that meets Dan Snyder‘s asking price of $6 billion.
On Tuesday (Mar. 28), Magic Johnson, alongside 76ers owner Josh Harris and billionaire Mitchell Rales, officially submitted a $6 billion bid to buy the franchise.
Reports note the group, led by entrepreneur Josh Harris, is comprised of the same individuals the Lakers giant teamed up with last year to bid on the Broncos. Though their prior efforts were unsuccessful, it seems the bunch has made another attempt at NFL team ownership.
Several other well-known celebs have reportedly expressed interest. As we reported back in November, fellow billionaires Jeff Bezos, Jay Z, and Byron Allen also made a bid when news first broke that the NFL team was being sold. It’s unclear at this time, however, if the three powerhouses remain in the race. Reportedly, the Washington Commanders franchise is valued at $5.6 billion.

Others interested in buying the Washington franchise reportedly included Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos and Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta. If the Commanders decide to sell, the $6 billion deal would break the previous record sale for the highest-sold NFL franchise, which was previously set by billionaire Rob Walton when he purchased the Denver Broncos for a whopping $4.65 billion.
As for Magic Johnson, the NBA icon already has ownership stakes in the L.A. Dodgers, the L.A. Sparks, and the Los Angeles Football Club. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments below![VIA]
