Latocha Scott Claims Producer Mona Scott-Young Didn’t Keep Her Promise To ‘Celebrate Black Women’ In ‘Queens Of R&B’ Reality Series: ‘I Was Being Attacked Every Single Day’
It looks like the ladies of Xscape and SWV will have to continue their reality TV series without LaTocha Scott.
In a recent interview with Chicago’s 107.5 WCGI host Kendra G, Xscape songstress LaTocha Scott spoke on season one of her reality series, “SWV & XSCAPE: The Queens of R&B,” and said she would not be returning for a second season.
If you didn’t know, the Bravo series features two of the most iconic female R&B groups of the 1990s, SWV and Xscape.
During the chat, when the R&B singer was asked if she was filming another season of the show, she said,
“There’s not going to be a part two for me. No. I mean, when you come and you say two supergroups are going to be celebrated and it does not end that way. Like, you got everybody beefing on social media.”
LaTocha Scott, 49, went on,
“The nerve of a Black production company, with Monami coming in and not celebrating Black women. It’s just tearing down. The whole time, out of seven women, I was being attacked every single day.”
For those who may be unaware, Monami Productions is a division of Monami Entertainment, which was founded by media mogul and famed producer Mona Scott-Young.
“So it’s just that thing for me like, when you say you’re going to do something we should be able to do it. And I think the fans have been slighted. And you know, and shame on her [Mona Scott-Young]. Shame on the production for doing that. We didn’t get to a tour, we didn’t get to music. So what was the end goal? What are we doing here?”
When asked about her expectations of reality TV and the series, LaTocha explained,
“Did I have reservations? Of course I did. But when she [Mona Scott-Young] started to say ‘Hey, we’re going to celebrate y’all, y’all going to do a tour, we’re going to talk about how you do a show, how you got to do the wardrobe and the music,’ I’m like, ‘that’s beautiful.’”
“None of the things happened until we started filming, none of the craziness. So, was this a set up? What did we do this for?”
Despite Xscape performing as a trio since LaTocha’s departure from the R&B quartet, the singer said she is still a part of the Atlanta girl group. She shared,
“I’m definitely apart of Xscape. I created the name. That’s the mothership. That’s where I come from. I would never forget where I come from. But it’s time for me to do music. I’ve always wanted to do music.”

As you may recall, LaTocha and her husband allegedly stole $30,000 in royalty money from her sister/group member Tamika Scott. In one of the episodes of the sisters’ reality series — “SWV & XSCAPE: The Queens of R&B” — the ladies of Xscape brought more accusations against LaTocha’s husband — Rocky Bivens — and accused him of getting “kickback” payments from promoters that they were unaware of.

In a previous interview on Andy Cohen’s talk show “Watch What Happens Live,” Tamika Scott spoke on her sister’s reaction to the news and said,
“I kinda figured she would react the way she do cause when things come out about her husband she’s like a deer in headlights.”

During the sit down with Andy Cohen, Tamika Scott also revealed that “there’s no doubt” in her mind that her sister and Rocky Bivens took her $30,000. The large payout was sent to the feuding sisters’ mother’s home – where LaTocha and her husband were living when the checks were mailed to the residence.
According to Tamika, her mother had no idea LaTocha was stealing from her. The 47-year-old said,
“I don’t think my mom knew what was going on but once I found out I told my mom so everyone is much aware of what happened, when it happened.”
“It was almost as if she was upset with me because I brought it to the forefront.”
