Gayle King Inks $12M Deal With CNN After Claims Of Not Leaving Her Gig At CBS
Gayle King is set to be the highest paid employee..ever.. at CNN.
According to RadarOnline, Gayle King signed a $12 million contract with CNN, making her the highest paid employee with the network. The network is reportedly struggling with their lowest ratings in decades and they believe that the media mogul can assist with additional viewers. CNN is reportedly granted the CBS Mornings host at least $12 million per year to go on the air for an hour every week.
Reports come before the 68-year-old claimed that she had no intentions on leaving “CBS Mornings” anytime soon. She said:
“I’m very close to [CNN head] Chris Licht. I like him very much, but on that question, ‘Me no speak English.’”
“Let’s just say I have two years left on my contract with CBS, and I have no intention of leaving CBS.”
Gayle King has been given the primetime slot to help the network since their downfall after Chris Cuomo was fired from an alleged sexual assault. Since then CNN has had numerous employees quit and their numbers of viewers decrease.
The Mayland native seems to be the goat in the media as she was granted the opportunity to “write her own check,” demanding what she would like to be paid.
The deal also reportedly states that King would be alongside former NBA player Charles Barkley, who’s currently signed to CNN’s stablemate, TNT. An insider reportedly shared:
“Gayle will not only be the highest paid person at CNN, she and Charles will be the highest paid on-air pair.”
The insider added:
“It will also make Gayle one of the highest people on television when you add her CBS contract into the mix.”
CBS reportedly pays King #13 million a year, while Charles Barkley, 60, is said to make $10 million at TBS where he co-hosts a deal worth more than $100 million.
