Gayle King Slams Naysayers ‘Downplaying’ Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s NYC Car Chase Following Whoopi Goldberg’s Recent Doubt: ‘That’s Very Troubling To Me’
On-air journalist Gayle King isn’t here for everyone’s latest remarks about her royal friends, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
As previously reported, last week, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were said to have been involved in a “near-catastrophic” paparazzi chase that lasted for two hours.

The scary occurrence allegedly took place in Manhattan, when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were traveling with Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, after leaving the Ziegfeld Theater.
Harry and his mother-in-law were accompanying Markle to the Women of Vision Awards, where she was honored on Tuesday night (May 16). Subsequent to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s time out on the town, they were claimed to have been followed by 12 photographers, and (ultimately) it got so bad that they had to switch from their vehicle to a cab.

After the almost-fatal incident, celebrated actress/host Whoopi Goldberg was one of many who (seemingly) doubted the validity of it.
Amdi an episode of ‘The View,’ Whoopi Goldberg expressed,
“[Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s] spokesperson called it a near catastrophic car chase, others said it wasn’t bad. But I think people in New York know if it was possible to have car chases in New York, we’d all make it to the theater on time.”
While Whoopi Goldberg said that she does believe that Harry and Markle were (in fact) dealing with “aggressive paparazzi,” she doesn’t necessarily think that it was to the extent that they portrayed it to be. Instead, she detailed that she could see something like that happening in Los Angeles… but not her home state, New York.
Even Whoopi Goldberg doesn’t believe Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

However, media maven Gayle King’s opinion on the situation is a little different than Whoopi’s, and she doesn’t (particularly) like the idea of people “downplaying” what happened to the royal pair.
She recently told an interviewer,
“I think it was a very unfortunate incident.”
Gayle King, who established a tight bond with Harry and Markle through her best friend, Oprah Winfrey, continued:
“It’s troubling to me that anybody would try to downplay what that would mean to them. That’s very troubling to me.”
“I’m just really sorry it happened and very sorry they had to go through it. Everybody can have all of their opinions, but I always go back to, ‘How did [Harry and Markle] feel in that moment?’”
