We regret to inform you that the honorable Jerry Springer has died.
According to sources, on Thursday (Apr. 27), household icon Jerry Springer allegedly succumbed to a bout with pancreatic cancer at his Chicago home.
Reportedly, Jerry Springer, 79, received the unfortunate diagnosis a few months ago, but the disease worsened over time.
The illustrious lawyer-turned-broadcaster’s spokesperson says that Springer’s health was said to have severely deteriorated earlier this week. Prior to falling ill, Springer was forced to go into immediate retirement–due to his sickness.
Respected for his worldly-renowned, self-titled talk show, ‘Jerry Springer,’ the England-born media tycoon is known for leading one of the most controversial on-air programs of all time.
The syndicated series aired from 1991 to 2018, with a whopping total of 27 seasons and almost 5,000 episodes under its groundbreaking belt.
To this day, it is known as a generational staple in American television, as its notable chant “Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!” and celebratory beads still serve as cultural references in modern-day. The critically-acclaimed phenomenon was so triumphant that it ultimately surpassed ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ at the height of its success.
