Ariana Grande Addresses Growing Concerns About Her Health: ‘The Body That You’ve Been Comparing My Current Body To Was The Unhealthiest Version Of My Body’
Ariana Grande wants the world to remember that if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
The musician responded to fans’ worries about changes to her weight and appearance in a recently shared TikTok video about her health. While she acknowledges that she has dropped some pounds, Ariana Grande wants her fans to know that she is content with how she looks and that it’s vital to avoid making comments about other people’s bodies.
During the clip, she shares,
“The body that you’ve been comparing my current body to was the unhealthiest version of my body. I was on a lot of antidepressants and drinking on them and eating poorly. [I was] at the lowest point of my life when I looked the way you consider my healthy, but that in fact wasn’t my healthy.”

Ariana Grande continues,
“I know I shouldn’t have to explain that. But I do feel like maybe having an openness and some sort of vulnerability here, good might come from it.”
According to the “Thank U, Next” singer, it’s inappropriate for individuals to feel “comfortable” criticizing the bodies of others, even if they mean well.
“You never know what someone is going through. So even if you are coming from a loving place and a caring place, that person probably is working on it or has a support system that they are working on it with. Be gentle with each other and with yourselves.”
Grande has been transparent about her battles with depression and anxiety. She previously admitted in an Instagram post that she had to reschedule meet and greets during her Sweetener global tour because her mental health struggles reached an “all-time high.”
She also wrote a moving essay in 2021 to honor Mental Health Awareness Month in which she stated that “healing isn’t linear, fun, quick or at all easy.” In 2018, she disclosed she had PTSD after the explosion at her Manchester concert in 2017 that claimed 22 lives.
Toward the end of the three-minute video, Grande expresses her love for her fans as she sends them encouragement and positivity. She states,
“I think you’re beautiful. No matter what you’re going through. No matter what weight, no matter how you like to do your makeup these days, no matter what cosmetic procedures you’ve had or not or anything.”
